You will note that we are somewhat in violation of our bylaws by not having the meeting in September. Remembering to properly announce the event was forgotten. Therefore, the meeting will instead be held on October 9.
The Team Portland Tennis Association has been and continues to be an important gathering place. In a time where dedicated spaces for our community keep declining, sustaining our social groups takes on increased importance. Please consider running for the board.

For our 30th episode, we take a deep dive into a player's career that made the tennis world swoon for not only his dashing good looks, but also his fascinating two-hands off both sides approach to the game. In a career that saw him climb to #14 in the world, Jan-Michael Gambill was labeled as the new IT-factor in American men's tennis during the early 2000's. In this retrospective, we listen as Jan-Michael takes us through his stellar resume of ATP titles and wins over legends like, Agassi, Sampras, Courier and Federer. We'll also hear how he interestingly dealt with pressure, and what his thoughts were to being named one of People Magazine's "50 Most Beautiful People.". This is a complete biography of a great champion that still stays active with coaching and with his stellar work on the Tennis Channel today. Please consider volunteering. Many hands make light work. The more people are willing to help out, the less there is to do for any one person. Last year’s post tournament survey results were very positive and will hopefully mean there will be an even better turnout this year. That is in large part due to those who gave some time, filled water jugs, enforced 5 min warm-up times, made a pizza run, allocated players to courts, etc. Your help would be much appreciated.
